My hair falls out in big clumps in the shower after conditioning! What do I do??

Before I put the conditioner in, it falls out a little bit, but after the conditioner I can basically touch any section of my hair and when I draw away my hand a bunch of hair comes with it!!! It only happens when I wash my hair in the shower, and for about a day afterward I keep shedding hair.

I was using Finesse conditioner for about a month, and recently (a couple weeks ago) I switched to Pantene Pro-V, but it hasn't helped all that much. One thing I was doing when I was using Finesse was to put in a little conditioner after the shower, when the hair was still damp, because it helped reduce frizz A LOT. I have really dry frizzy hair, especially after I wash it (which isn't that often anyway, just a couple times a week). I decided to stop putting in the extra conditioner because I thought that might be what was making my hair fall out...but it still falls out! Is it just a sort of "aftereffect" of putting in extra conditioner, or should I see a doctor about the problem? Stress...?

Most people shed hair pretty constantly. The conditioner isn't making your hair fall out. It's just making your hair slicker so the hair that has already fallen out detaches from the other hair and comes off your head.

If you are not getting bald, you are probably just "suffering" from normal hair shedding, which clogs your shower drain, forcing you to periodically clear it, but is otherwise harmless. (Blondes tend to shed the most. We have three blonde women in my house and the drain is always full of hair. Yet so are our heads.)

If your hair is actually visibly thinning, you may benefit from using something like Rogaine. Some women do suffer from "male" pattern baldness.

Put a screen in the drain so you don't plug it.

(from past experience) if this is a new brand of shampoo you just started to use then probably thats why your losing a lot of hair. whenever you start using a new brand your hair needs to adjust to the chemicals in that new shampoo since it's used to the old one. it will take a while before your hair gets back to normal. also you should try cutting your hair a bit

I would see a DR - hair loss can be a symptom of thyroid problems amongst many other things.

Or - if you have recently treated your hair with colour, perm etc that would cause it....

Have you ever dyed your hair? That could easily lead to your hair falling out. Either that or you could be having a reaction to conditioner, which I find hard to believe. You might actually want to go talk to a stylist or even a doctor. (The stylist should know, unless it is a more serious reaction.)

My hair falls out in big clumps in the shower after conditioning! What do I do??

Yes you should see a doctor it may be alopecia, some women lose clumps of hair, or a thyroid problem which causes thinning of the hair as well. Or you may be deficient in something. Remember, though, that the average hair loss is 100 strands of hair a day. My hair is long and 100 strands looks like ALOT more than what it probably is. If you think it's more than 100, contact your doctor asap.

you should go see a doctor or ask a hairstylist if the products may be causing it. good luck

Have you lost a lot of wieght lately? Changed your diet? Been really stressed out? Recently become pregnant or given birth?? These are all reasons that your hair can fall out. Its also important to remember that you typically lose about a hundred hairs a day, but if you are only washing your hair a couple of times a week, the loose hairs that have fallen out the previous days may be just coming out when you wash it.

I have also gone through the same thing. Hormones play a big part too. Especially if you are pregnant and after giving birth. I read in a magazine that if you brush your hair before taking a shower you will have less clumps in the shower. I don't know if you can do that very well with frizzy hair.

You might want to try a deep conditioning treatment at a salon once a month. Also talk to your stylist about minimizing hair loss. There are some shampoos out there touted as hair strengtheners. They might help you too.

If you don't want to see a doctor just yet, try vitamin E capsules.

My hair falls out in big clumps in the shower after conditioning! What do I do??

that happens to me sometimes too i used to have pretty thick hair and now its become very thin because it falls out after i use pantene conditioner, so what i've done is started using the shampoo plus conditioner and its not that bad anymore, my hair still falls out but not so much anymore as it used to before.

My hair falls out in big clumps in the shower after conditioning! What do I do??

I I'M SO SORRY ABOUT THAT BUT GIRL IT'S THE CONDITIONER

My hair falls out in big clumps in the shower after conditioning! What do I do??

There would be a clue if your fingernails also break and splice, could be mineral/vitamin deficit.

What about your other hair? Does it fall out too?

And HOW does your hair fall out??

%26gt;Check if it broke off or if you can see the roots at the endings.

%26gt;Check if you have circular areas on your skull where a lot of hair falls out.

You should see a doctor anyways because it might also be a hormone problem (e.g changed the pill?)

if i were you i would see a doctor...

My hair falls out in big clumps in the shower after conditioning! What do I do??

I read in a forum, people reporting an increase in losing hair on there head when they used hair growth inhibitor shave creams. (For example: shaving creams that instruct you to apply little of the foam on your legs after you shave them and shower in order to make the hair grow less.)

I did a search on the net because I bought some of this shave cream and I did read that people reported that there seemed to be a correlation between using these products and losing hair from their heads.

It would make sense .... a chemical being absorbed by the body.

Good Luck.

I think you should definitely see a doctor about it.It sounds pretty serious,so do something about it soon!

My hair falls out in big clumps in the shower after conditioning! What do I do??

i think "Just wondering" hit it on the head, so to speak.

i, too, have dry frizzy hair, and when i shower i do tend to lose a bunch of it. it only seems to be so much becuase you arent washing it everyday. everyone loses alot of hair each day, and some people do lose more then others. its normal and healthy.

since your hair is frizzy you probably dont brush it much after it drys, right? or you put it up all day and do nothign else? this only traps the hair that is coming out during the day within the hair that is staying on your head, and it all comes out when it gets losened from the washings.

Brusing your hair before your shower will help, because it will help pull out most of the lose hair.

i suggest wash your hair every other day, and buy a good leave in conditioner or frizz treatment. days when you do not wash it in the shower, you still shoudl wet it down and brush it out, weather you take a shower or do it in the sink, however dont yank at your hair, it will only make it worse.

My hair falls out in big clumps in the shower after conditioning! What do I do??

that is really gross-try looking 4 a new conditioner to help keep in hair or moister. i use Aussie and none of my hair fall out. or maybe it is stress-if it is stress, go see a physical therapist.

My hair falls out in big clumps in the shower after conditioning! What do I do??

i agree with everyone else.it's the conditioner.pantne did that to me also breaking the ends off.switch to aussie moist

i have thick curly hair and it helps reduce frizz even in humid weather.you also might want to check with a dr.just to be sure.

My hair falls out in big clumps in the shower after conditioning! What do I do??

I have the exact same problem. I have found out that if you use a heat styling unit (hair dryer/straightener/curling iron ect) that it can fry your hair. When your hair is too dry and is really brittle it breaks off which then causes the frizz. Too reduce breakage and frizz use a wide tooth comb in the shower after you put in the conditioner but before you rinse it out. Don't heat style your hair too much, (maybe a few times a month at least if you dont want it falling out) Also because your hair is dryer and frizzy try a moisturizing shampoo/conditioner. (Pantene or Finesse in your case so your hair doesnt have to get used to yet another chemical imbalance) The conditioner thing had nothing to do with it. In the shower after you comb through it you can rinse it then brush it with an anti breakage brush (easy to find...they hav the little ball thingys on the bristle but make sure the brush is plastic so you can take it in the shower with you) while in the shower make a ponytail with your fist and slide your other hand down the ponytail which will grab the excess hairs. The less you have of the hairs the less it will clog your drain, and it wont get entangled in your hair, which causes the other hairs to get pulled out as well (clumps) I have personally had this happen too me, I asked my stylist and she told me everything I just told you. I have had alot less hairs in my drain and dont have too many clumps. Hope this helps.

Good Luck!!!

My hair falls out in big clumps in the shower after conditioning! What do I do??

this happens to me too, but i dont think that mine could be classified as 'clumps'...i just figure that those hairs have fallen out because its the end of their growth cycle

My hair falls out in big clumps in the shower after conditioning! What do I do??

do not use Pantene Pro-V It is bad for hair it coats it in a silicon layer and it makes the hair follicles die i tyred it and my hair fell out too i asked a few hairdressers and they told me never to use it try a herbal conditioner and eat healthy and don't have your water too hot it will hurt your scalp and take a mulit vitamin also when your hair is wet treat it really gently as its prone to damage when wet

but please try something else apart from Pantene Pro-V its bad anything but Pantene Pro-V
